OncoDaily Medical Journal (ODMJ) considers the manuscript categories listed below. Authors should select the most appropriate content type at submission and ensure the manuscript complies with the relevant length, abstract, and figure/table limits. Word counts refer to the main text unless otherwise stated.

Original Research

Original Research articles report novel clinical, translational, or basic oncology research. The main text should be up to 4,000 words and include a structured abstract of up to 300 words. Up to 8 tables and/or figures and up to 100 references are permitted. Manuscripts should follow a standard structure that includes Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and
References.

Narrative Review / Systematic Review / Meta-analysis

Review articles synthesize evidence and provide expert interpretation of the literature. The main text should be up to 5,000 words with an abstract of up to 300 words. Up to 5 tables and/or figures and up to 120 references are permitted. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses should clearly describe the search strategy and study selection approach.

Editorial

Editorials provide concise commentary on timely issues or recent advances relevant to oncology. There is no fixed word limit, and an abstract is not required. Tables/figures and references may be included as appropriate.

Correspondence

Correspondence includes letters to the editor, brief scientific observations, or responses to published content. The main text should be up to 500 words, and no abstract is required. One table or figure is permitted, with up to 5 references. Correspondence is subject to peer review.

Short Communication

Short Communications present brief reports of original studies, early findings, or small case series, including negative results when informative. The main text should be up to 2,000 words with an abstract of up to 200 words. Up to 4 tables and/or figures and up to 20 references are permitted.

Special Communication

Special Communications address significant or timely issues using an evidence-based approach and may be commissioned; non-invited submissions may require editorial approval. The main text should be up to 1,500 words with an abstract of up to 200 words. Up to 2 tables and/or figures and up to 20 references are permitted.

Diagnostic Test Interpretation

This article type provides practical guidance on the clinical application of diagnostic, prognostic, or predictive tests in oncology. The main text should be up to 1,500 words with an abstract of up to 200 words. Up to 2 tables and/or figures and up to 20 references are permitted.

Clinical Evidence to Practice

Clinical Evidence to Practice articles summarize key clinical trial evidence with emphasis on real-world implementation. The main text should be up to 1,500 words with an abstract of up to 150 words. Up to 2 tables and/or figures and up to 20 references are permitted.

Pro/Con Debate

Pro/Con Debates present opposing viewpoints on a significant clinical, scientific, or policy issue. The main text should be up to 1,000 words. An abstract is not required. References may include up to 50, and tables/figures may be included as appropriate.

Case Report / Brief Report

Case Reports and Brief Reports describe unique clinical cases, unusual presentations, novel management strategies, or important clinical observations. The main text should be up to 1,500 words with an abstract of up to 275 words. Up to 3 tables and/or figures and up to 20 references are permitted.

Commentary

Commentaries provide perspective on topical issues, emerging research, or clinical challenges in oncology. The main text should be up to 2,000 words. If an abstract is included, it should be unstructured. One table or figure is permitted,d and up to 20 references may be included.

Oncology Grand Rounds

Oncology Grand Rounds are case-based educational pieces focusing on complex decision-making and patient management. The main text should be up to 2,500 words. An abstract is not required. One table or figure may be included; references may be included as appropriate.

Special Article

Special Articles include guidelines, consensus statements, meeting summaries, and other major scholarly communications. The main text should be up to 4,000 words. If an abstract is included, it should be unstructured. Up to 6 tables and/or figures may be included; references may be included as appropriate.

Statistics in Oncology

Statistics in Oncology articles address methodological issues, biostatistical approaches, tutorials, controversies, and reviews relevant to oncology research. The main text should be up to 4,000 words. An abstract is not required. Up to 6 tables and/or figures and up to 150 references are permitted.

60 Questions / 60 Answers

This educational format addresses a topic through a structured question-and-answer framework. There is no fixed word or abstract limit. Up to 3 tables and/or figures may be included; references may be included as appropriate.

Hypothesis Article

Hypothesis Articles propose a testable hypothesis or conceptual framework supported by preliminary evidence, logical reasoning, and/or literature. The main text should be up to 3,000 words with an abstract of up to 250 words. Up to 4 tables and/or figures and up to 50 references are permitted.

News

News pieces highlight oncology-related events, meeting summaries, or timely updates. The main text should be up to 500 words, and no abstract is required. One table or figure is permitted, and references are not required.
