Instructions for Authors
Overview
The following information is essential for authors considering submission to OncoDaily Medical Journal. We strongly encourage contributors to read these guidelines in full before submitting their work. Adhering to the journal’s editorial and ethical standards will help ensure a smooth peer review and publication process.
Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted by the corresponding author, who is responsible for uploading all files and entering accurate metadata. A cover letter is not mandatory but is encouraged. The letter should be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief and include a summary of the key findings, their importance to the field, confirmation of originality, any relevant disclosures, and the manuscript title and type. Authors may suggest up to three independent reviewers who are qualified experts, have no conflicts of interest, and are not affiliated with the same institution.
Article Types and Structure
Authors should consult the “Submit Article” page to select the appropriate article type and check specific limits or requirements. The title page must include a concise title (maximum 75 characters), full names and institutional affiliations of all authors, and complete contact information for the corresponding author. It should also state the word counts of the abstract and main text, number of tables and figures, a list of four to eight keywords, and a table of abbreviations.
Abstract
All manuscripts must include a structured abstract summarizing the background, methods, results, and conclusions. Clinical trial manuscripts must also provide the trial registration number and URL. The abstract should clearly highlight the study’s novelty and clinical or scientific relevance.
Formatting and Layout
Manuscripts must be submitted in single-spaced format with numbered pages. All headings and subheadings must be numbered sequentially. Figures should be submitted as high-resolution files (minimum 300 dpi) and ideally consist of one panel each. Use scale bars rather than magnification factors, and place all explanatory text in the figure legends. Tables should be submitted as separate Word or Excel files and formatted with legends in 11-point Times New Roman font. Use Arabic numerals to label tables and figures.
Acknowledgments and Authorship
Authors should acknowledge individuals who contributed to the work but did not meet authorship criteria, including writers or institutional staff. Authorship must comply with ICMJE criteria. All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the study, approved the final version of the manuscript, and accepted responsibility for the content.
Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening followed by double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts. Reviewers are selected based on subject relevance and lack of conflict of interest. Editorial decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief or assigned editors, based on reviewer feedback and alignment with the journal’s scope and standards. The same peer review process applies to invited submissions and special issues.
Ethical Compliance
Research involving human participants must include a statement confirming approval by an institutional review board or ethics committee and that informed consent was obtained. For animal studies, compliance with institutional and international guidelines must be stated. These details should be included in the Methods section of the manuscript.
Data Sharing
Authors are required to include a data sharing statement. If the data are not publicly available, a valid justification must be provided. Where applicable, datasets should be shared in a repository with an accessible link.
Conflicts of Interest
All potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed at the time of submission. This includes financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the work.
Plagiarism and Research Misconduct
All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using automated tools and manual checks. OncoDaily Medical Journal adheres to COPE guidelines and maintains zero tolerance for data fabrication, duplication, or unethical conduct. Proven misconduct will result in immediate rejection and may be reported to the authors’ institutions.
References
References must follow the Vancouver style and appear in the order they are cited in the text. Use full surnames followed by initials, listing up to five authors. If there are six or more authors, list the first three followed by “et al.” The limit is ten references for Correspondence and Commentaries and up to 150 for Review Articles. Authors are responsible for ensuring all references are accurate and correctly formatted.
Supplementary Materials
Authors may submit supplementary materials such as datasets, videos, figures, and PowerPoint presentations to enhance their manuscript. These should be clearly labeled and referenced in the main text.
Author Charges and Waiver Policy
OncoDaily Medical Journal applies publication-related charges to support peer review, editorial production, and open-access hosting. These may include submission fees, article processing charges (APCs), and other costs. A detailed breakdown of applicable fees is available upon request. Authors will be informed of all charges prior to final acceptance. Waivers or discounts may be considered for authors from low- and middle-income countries or under special institutional arrangements. Waiver requests must be submitted at the time of manuscript submission.
Manuscript Withdrawal Policy
Authors may request to withdraw a manuscript during the peer review process. In some cases, an administrative fee may apply. Withdrawals requested after acceptance or during production may be subject to full publication charges unless justified.
ORCID
Authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD upon submission to support transparency and proper attribution of scholarly work.
Copyright and Licensing
All articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain full copyright of their work and grant OncoDaily Medical Journal a non-exclusive license to publish, archive, and distribute the article. This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided appropriate credit is given to the authors and the source.
Archiving and Preservation
All published articles are permanently archived and preserved in digital format. The journal is in the process of establishing a formal preservation arrangement with a recognized digital archive such as the Internet Archive or LOCKSS to ensure long-term accessibility.
Submission Guidelines
Authors must submit manuscripts electronically through the OncoDaily Medical Journal submission system or via email, depending on the current workflow indicated on the Submit Article page. Only the corresponding author should initiate the submission and must ensure that all listed co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript.
Submissions should include the main manuscript file, title page, cover letter (optional but encouraged), figures and tables as separate files, supplementary materials (if applicable), and a completed conflict of interest disclosure. The manuscript file must be prepared in accordance with the formatting requirements outlined in these author instructions, including structured abstracts, numbered headings, and proper referencing style.
Authors should indicate the article type (e.g., Research Article, Review, Commentary) at the time of submission. All files should be clearly labeled, and figures or tables should be referenced in the main text. Incomplete submissions or those that do not conform to journal guidelines may be returned to authors before peer review.
After submission, the corresponding author will receive a confirmation email. Authors can expect to be notified of the manuscript’s status following editorial screening. If the manuscript is sent for peer review, reviewers’ comments and the editorial decision will be communicated by email. Revised manuscripts should be resubmitted within the timeframe specified in the decision letter, along with a point-by-point response to reviewers.
Final proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for approval prior to publication. It is the author’s responsibility to check the proof carefully and respond promptly to ensure timely publication.
