Reporting quality, statistics, and reproducibility
Authors should follow appropriate reporting guidelines (e.g., CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, CARE, STARD, etc.) where applicable. Manuscripts should describe statistical methods clearly, define error bars, report exact n values, and specify the nature of replicates where relevant.
Data and code availability
Research manuscripts must include a Data Availability Statement describing whether data are publicly available and where, or if not, the reason and conditions for access. If previously unreported custom code is central to the findings, authors must include a Code Availability statement and provide access to editors/reviewers upon request.
Related manuscripts and prior dissemination
Authors must disclose any related manuscripts with overlapping content and/or authorship that are submitted, under review (including appeal), or in press elsewhere. Copies should be uploaded as separate files for editorial assessment and marked clearly. Preprints and conference abstracts are generally permitted, but must be disclosed at submission.
Use of AI and AI-assisted tools
If AI-assisted tools were used (e.g., for language improvement), this must be disclosed in the manuscript, including the tool name and how it was used. Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the work. AI tools must not be listed as authors.
Ethics, patient consent, and image integrity
Human and animal research must meet applicable ethical standards and include the relevant approval and consent statements. Identifiable patient information or images require explicit consent for publication. Image manipulation that could misrepresent data is not permitted.
Peer review and editorial decisions
All submissions undergo editorial screening for scope, completeness, and policy compliance. Manuscripts that proceed are evaluated through ODMJ’s peer review process. Authors may be asked to submit a revised manuscript with a point-by-point response to reviewer comments.
